We are now going to estimate the amount of clean energy you are using from the grid. It does this by checking the time of day you have used the electricity from the grid and determines the percentage of clean energy being generated in your region.

On the Energy Dashboard click the three stacked dots in the upper right to edit.

Select Energy Configuration.

Under Grid carbon footprint click ADD ELECTRICITY MAPS INTEGRATION.

Leave as Use home location.

Click on the link to request a token Electricity Maps – Free Tier

On the page select Get API key.

Under Usage: select Home Assistant and enter your email address. Click Submit.

Copy the API token.

Back in Home Assistant enter the Access token* and click SUBMIT.

You can assign an Area and click Finish.

You will now have configured your CO2 Signal.

On the Energy Dashboard you should now have a Low-carbon reading.
